You need a custom shower enclosure in Odesa when an off-the-shelf unit simply doesn’t fit your bathroom. The walls aren’t perfectly straight, the corner isn’t exactly 90°, the niche is a few centimetres narrower than standard — and the “box” either won’t go in or stands with gaps that let water splash onto the floor. Below I’ll walk you through a real project and show how we solved exactly this problem: what the client wanted, how we measured, what the enclosure is made of, how much it cost and how long it took.
What the client needed
The owners of an apartment in the Kontynent residential area were renovating their bathroom and decided from the start: no bathtub, just a walk-in shower with a floor drain. The tiles were already laid, the drain was installed and the shampoo niche was finished. All that was left was to close off the shower area with glass.

What mattered to them:
- water stays inside the shower — not on the floor and not on the toilet next to it;
- the enclosure doesn’t “eat” the space — the bathroom is small, and outward-swinging doors would get in the way;
- it looks like the design project — clear glass and black frame lines to match the black fixtures;
- it lasts — no rust on the metal and no yellowed seals a year later.
This is a typical story: people don’t want “glass and a frame”, they want a calm morning shower without puddles and without feeling cramped. That’s what we chose the design for.
Measurement: why a made-to-measure enclosure is impossible without it
We give a preliminary quote within one day — based on photos and approximate dimensions. But the final price and the drawing come only after measurement: our specialist visits the day after you contact us.

On this project we marked out the shower area with a laser level. This isn’t a formality. Even in a new renovation, walls can be a few millimetres off vertical, and the floor slopes towards the drain. If 8 mm glass is made “by tape measure” without accounting for these deviations, the doors will either rub or leave a gap.
Based on the measurement, our engineer prepared a drawing with a tolerance of ±1 mm. The drawing records:
- angle between the walls — 90°;
- outer dimensions — 1009 × 1025 mm;
- height of the fixed panels — 1990 mm, sliding panels — 1988 mm;
- diagonal entrance width — 619 mm;
- knob handle height — 900 mm from the bottom of the panel.
The glass is cut and tempered to these exact dimensions, and nothing can be trimmed after tempering. That’s why accurate measurement is half the job.
What the enclosure is made of: a look at the design
8 mm tempered glass
All four panels are 8 mm clear tempered glass. Tempered glass is several times stronger than ordinary glass, and if it does break, it shatters into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards. In a wet, slippery shower that’s a matter of safety, not luxury.
8 mm is the sweet spot for sliding enclosures: the panel doesn’t wobble as it moves, yet it isn’t so heavy that it overloads the rollers.

Aluminium U-channel around the perimeter
Around the perimeter the glass sits in an aluminium U-channel. It aligns the glass with the walls and floor, absorbs small irregularities and holds the fixed panels rigidly. Aluminium doesn’t rust, and the black finish matches the rest of the hardware.
Sliding system on a 30 × 10 mm tube
The doors run on rollers along a 30 × 10 mm top tube made of powder-coated stainless steel. The same tube acts as a rigid top bar that ties the whole structure into the corner. Powder-coated stainless steel isn’t bothered by steam and moisture, and the matte black finish doesn’t show fingerprints the way gloss does.
The sliding layout is the key here: the doors don’t swing outwards, they glide along the walls. The entrance is diagonal into the corner, so a small bathroom doesn’t need extra clearance for a door swing.
10 mm acrylic threshold and silicone seals
At the bottom there’s a 10 mm acrylic threshold. It’s easy to step over, but it keeps water from spreading out of the shower area. The joints between panels are closed with silicone seals — they’re what keeps the splashes inside.
Black hardware
Rollers, knob handles and fixings are all black. In the drawing every hole for the rollers and handles is precisely positioned, so the hardware sits straight and the doors glide smoothly.

How much does a custom shower enclosure cost
This enclosure cost the client UAH 29,300 — for the complete structure: glass, profile, sliding system, hardware, threshold and seals.

What the price depends on in your case:
- Size and number of panels. More glass means a higher price. A four-panel corner enclosure costs more than a single straight screen.
- Opening type. A sliding system with rollers is more complex than hinged swing doors.
- Glass. Clear, frosted, tinted or sandblasted — each has a different price.
- Hardware colour. Black, chrome, gold — costs differ.
- Non-standard geometry. Angled corners, niches or a sloping ceiling require a more complex drawing.
We give the exact price after measurement. A preliminary one — within one day if you send photos and approximate dimensions.
How we work: from your call to a finished enclosure
- Call or request. Tell us what kind of enclosure you want and send photos of the bathroom.
- Preliminary quote — within one day. You immediately get a sense of the price range.
- Measurement — the next day. Our specialist visits, marks out the shower area with a laser and clarifies every detail.
- Drawing and approval. The engineer prepares a drawing with ±1 mm tolerance, and you approve the dimensions and specification.
- Manufacturing — 3–4 weeks. The glass is cut, drilled for hardware and tempered.
- Installation. We fit the profile to the markings, install the glass and adjust the door travel and seals.

Checklist before ordering a shower enclosure
- ☐ Wall and floor tiles are laid and the grout has dried.
- ☐ The drain or shower tray is installed and tested.
- ☐ You know which side is more convenient for entering the shower.
- ☐ You’ve chosen a hardware colour to match the mixer and accessories.
- ☐ You’ve decided which glass you need: clear or frosted.
- ☐ You’ve allowed 3–4 weeks before you need the shower “right now”.
How to care for the enclosure so it stays like new
Glass and black hardware don’t need complicated care, but a few habits will noticeably extend the enclosure’s life:
- Squeegee the glass after each shower. It takes a minute, and no limescale marks from hard water will form.
- Don’t use abrasive powders or steel wool. They scratch both the glass and the tube’s powder coating.
- Every few months, wipe the silicone seals with a mild chlorine-free cleaner — this keeps them flexible longer.
- Don’t let dirt build up in the threshold and U-channel — a damp cloth during regular cleaning is enough.
- If the doors start to stick, don’t force them — give us a call; the rollers can be adjusted in a few minutes.
When a glass partition is better than an enclosure
If the shower area takes up an entire niche from wall to wall, a single fixed glass screen without doors is sometimes enough — it’s cheaper and even easier to look after. We make these too; read more on our page about glass partitions in Odesa. All shower enclosure options are collected in our custom shower enclosures section.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to make a custom shower enclosure?
Three to four weeks after the drawing is approved. This time goes into cutting, drilling holes for the hardware and tempering the glass.
Can an enclosure be installed if the walls are uneven?
Yes — that’s exactly what the measurement is for. We mark out the area with a laser level, and the aluminium U-channel around the perimeter compensates for small deviations in the walls and floor. The glass is made with ±1 mm tolerance.
What glass is best for a shower enclosure?
For sliding enclosures we recommend 8 mm tempered glass. It’s safe, because if it breaks it shatters into small blunt pieces, and it’s rigid enough for the doors to run straight on the rollers.
Do I need a shower tray?
No. This project has a walk-in shower with a floor drain, and the water is kept inside by a 10 mm acrylic threshold and silicone seals. This option looks lighter and is easier to clean.
How much does a corner sliding shower enclosure cost?
The enclosure from this case study, 1009 × 1025 mm with 8 mm glass and black hardware, cost UAH 29,300 turnkey. The exact price for your bathroom is calculated after measurement.
