WDS Windows in Odesa: Which Series to Choose — 5S, 6S, 76 AD or 76 MD. Case Study: 53 Windows and an Entrance for a Business Centre on Velyka Arnautska Street
WDS windows are made from PVC profile produced by Miroplast, a Ukrainian manufacturer based in Dnipro. Each series has its own job. WDS 5S glazes a large number of openings on a tight budget. WDS 76 AD is the new default for flats and houses. WDS 76 MD, with three seal lines, is the choice for large windows and noisy streets. VIKNODOM (ОКНОДОМ / ВІКНОДІМ) manufactures WDS windows and doors in Odesa, installs them across the Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions, and ships finished units anywhere in Ukraine.

Below is a project we finished in September: a business centre at 17 Velyka Arnautska Street. After serious damage, the building needed 53 new windows and a new entrance. Everything was on site five days after the order went into production, and installation took four days.

The review behind this article
★★★★★ Client review on Google Maps (original in Ukrainian, our translation):
“Highly professional, well-organised work in these difficult times! We ordered an urgent window replacement for our business centre (Velyka Arnautska Street) after serious damage. The scope was huge: 53 windows and a premium entrance in a stylish anthracite colour. We were extremely satisfied with OKNODOM at every stage!
What impressed us most:
Speed and accuracy: measurements were taken immediately and without a single mistake. Despite the size of the order, everything was on site within 5 days!
Quality installation: all 53 units and the entrance were installed in just 4 days.
Flawless paperwork: for a business, this is critical. All contracts, completion certificates, delivery notes, tax invoices and waybills were prepared clearly, on time and without delays.
Special thanks to the installers Roman and Viacheslav! Incredibly hard-working guys and true professionals who gave it their all.
Price, lead time, installation speed and paperwork are all top level. The price-to-quality ratio is ideal. We sincerely recommend OKNODOM as a reliable partner!”

What the client needed
I handled this order myself, so here is how it looked from the inside. The building owner had four problems, and each one needed its own decision.
- Close up the facade before the cold. Floors three to eight, each with stairwell and office windows. Tenants cannot work behind plastic sheeting for weeks. So we needed a profile the factory produces quickly, with no shortage of parts.
- Stay within budget for 218 m² of glazing. At that area, a small difference in price per square metre adds up to hundreds of thousands of hryvnias.
- Get proper documents for accounting. A supply contract with appendices, completion certificates, delivery notes, tax invoices and waybills. Without them, the business centre cannot book the expense.
- Build an entrance worth looking at. The entrance is the face of the building. The client did not want white plastic.

What we installed
Windows: WDS 5S, white. The main size is 2070×2040 mm: a 1270 mm fixed section and an 800 mm tilt-and-turn sash. There are mirror-image versions opening the other way, fully fixed windows, and several units 1720 mm and 2000 mm high for individual openings. One of these windows weighs about 105 kg, so it took two people to set each one.
Glass unit: single-chamber low-E 4/16/4i, 24 mm. The inner pane has a low-emissivity coating that reflects heat back into the room. Vorne hardware and Hoppe Secustik handles, which have a built-in lock that stops the mechanism being turned from outside through a gap. External sills are 170 mm.

Entrance: WDS series 76 profile, anthracite. A central door of 1000×2940 mm (2200 mm leaf plus a 740 mm transom) and two side sections of 941×2940 mm. Total width is about 2.9 m and the assembly weighs 326 kg. The 32 mm glass unit is 6/20Ar/6i: two 6 mm panes, a 20 mm argon-filled cavity, and a low-E inner pane.
Why 6 mm glass and not 4 mm? A business-centre door opens hundreds of times a day. People push it with their shoulders and hit it with trolleys. Six-millimetre glass is stiffer, flexes less in the leaf and takes impacts better. Argon in the cavity cuts heat loss through the glass, which matters on a large glazed area by the door.
Timeline
- Survey: one visit, every opening on every floor.
- Five days after production started, the whole order was on site.
- Installation of 53 windows and the entrance: four days, by installers Roman and Viacheslav.
Why WDS 5S here and not series 76
To be honest, I would not recommend this set-up for a flat. Our contract quotes Ukraine’s building code DBN V.2.6-31:2021: a window’s thermal resistance must be at least 0.9 m²·K/W in climate zone 1 and at least 0.7 in zone 2. A 60 mm profile with a single-chamber glass unit does not reach that figure. For zone 1, you need a profile at least 70 mm deep and a double-chamber unit with two low-E panes. We show every client this clause before they sign.
This project had different priorities: speed, budget for a large area, and stairwell openings where people pass through rather than live. Low-E glass in a 24 mm unit still loses noticeably less heat than standard glass of the same thickness. The business centre needed its facade closed within a week, and this set-up did that job.
The WDS profile range: series compared
All figures are from the manufacturer and the system data sheets. For a full overview of the brand, see our WDS profile page (in Ukrainian).

| Series | Frame depth | Chambers | Seal lines | Glass unit | Thermal data | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WDS 5S | 60 mm | 5 | 2 | up to 32 mm | outer wall 2.7 mm (class B) | Offices, warehouses, stairwells, summer houses, fast large orders |
| WDS 6S | 70 mm | 6 | 2 | up to 40 mm | Uf 1.3 W/(m²·K) | Flats on a limited budget |
| WDS 76 AD | 76 mm | 5 | 2 | 40–48 mm | Uw 0.79–0.82 W/(m²·K) | Flats, houses, offices — the new default |
| WDS 76 MD | 76 mm | 6 | 3 | up to 48 mm | Uw down to 0.79 W/(m²·K), Rw 38 dB | Large windows, noisy streets, private houses |
| Series 76 doors | 76 mm | — | — | up to 48 mm | — | Entrances, vestibules, balcony doors |
Uw is the heat transfer of the whole window (frame plus glass): the lower, the warmer. Uf is the frame only. The manufacturer quotes Uw for a window with a double-chamber low-E glass unit.
WDS 5S: when there are many windows
Five chambers in a 60 mm profile, steel reinforcement, 24 mm and 32 mm glass units. This is the workhorse for large orders. In our own orders, 5S mostly goes to commercial buildings, stairwells, outbuildings and summer houses.
Its weak point is thermal reserve. For a living room I recommend at least a 24 mm low-E unit, and preferably moving up to 76 AD.
WDS 6S: 70 mm at a moderate price
A six-chamber system, 70 mm deep, taking glass units up to 40 mm. For years it was the best-selling WDS profile. When Miroplast launched 76 AD in 2023, it said plainly that the new series was meant to replace 6S.

WDS 76 AD: the new default
76 mm, five chambers, two seal lines, glass units of 40–48 mm. The reinforcement chambers are larger than in earlier WDS series. That allows a stronger steel insert, so a window can be made bigger without an extra mullion in the middle.
With a double-chamber low-E unit, 76 AD meets the DBN code comfortably. For a flat in Odesa it is currently the clearest choice for warmth per hryvnia.
WDS 76 MD: three seal lines
The same 76 mm depth, but six chambers and a third, centre seal. It runs through the middle of the profile between frame and sash and separates the cold zone from the warm one. The frame reinforcement is a closed steel section. This series is for large windows, noisy streets, and private houses exposed to wind on every side.
WDS 76 AD vs 76 MD: what the difference is
The letters describe the type of seal, a convention used by European profile makers.
- AD (German Anschlagdichtung) — rebate seal. Two seal lines: an outer one on the frame and an inner one on the sash.
- MD (Mitteldichtung) — centre seal. A third seal line is added in the middle of the profile.

In practice:
| Parameter | WDS 76 AD | WDS 76 MD |
|---|---|---|
| Chambers | 5 | 6 |
| Seal lines | 2 | 3 |
| Frame reinforcement | reinforced | closed section |
| Protection against draughts and dust | good | better, thanks to the third seal |
| Price | lower | higher |
| When to choose it | flat, office, standard openings | house, busy road, windows over 3 m², strong wind on upper floors |
If your windows face a courtyard and the openings are ordinary, you will hardly notice the difference between AD and MD, but you will pay for it. If there is a tram outside, or sea wind on the 15th floor, go with MD.
Through-coloured anthracite: what it means on WDS windows
Our documents for the entrance say “Anthracite, two-sided, through-coloured”. Here is what that means.
A typical coloured window is a white profile covered with foil. If the foil is damaged, white plastic shows underneath, and you see a white line where the sash meets the frame.
For dark colours, WDS extrudes the profile already coloured through, in grey or brown. Anthracite foil is then applied on both sides. A chip will not reveal a white spot, and there is no white edge in the rebates or on the ends. For an entrance that gets knocked by bags and trolleys every day, that matters.
One more point. A dark profile heats up more in the sun than a white one, and expands more. On tall units like our 2940 mm door, this is offset with heavy reinforcement, and series 76 has enlarged chambers for exactly that.
Vorne hardware on WDS windows
We fit Vorne hardware on most projects. The reason is practical: correctly adjusted, it holds large sashes well, and spare parts are easy to find in Ukraine. If a stay arm or keeper needs replacing in five years, you will not be waiting for a part from abroad.
On commercial projects we also fit Hoppe Secustik handles. The built-in lock stops the window being opened if someone tries to shift the hardware from outside through a gap.

Current offer: tempered glass in WDS 76 AD and 76 MD at the standard price
Right now we make WDS 76 AD and WDS 76 MD windows with tempered glass units at the price of standard units. You pay nothing extra for tempering.
What tempered glass gives you:
- Strength. After heat treatment, glass is several times stronger against impact and bending than ordinary glass.
- Safer breakage. If it does break, it falls into small blunt cubes rather than long sharp shards. After a blast wave, that is a question of injuries, not just repairs.
- Resistance to temperature differences. Tempered glass is less likely to crack when one part is in sun and another in shade.
An important caveat: tempered glass is not bulletproof or blast-proof. It does not guarantee the window will survive a nearby explosion. For maximum protection, add anti-shatter film or use laminated glass — ask your manager about it.

WDS windows under the eRecovery programme
eRecovery (єВідновлення) is Ukraine’s state programme that compensates homeowners for housing damaged by Russian attacks. VIKNODOM works with it: if your flat or house was damaged by shelling, replacement WDS windows and doors can be paid for from the compensation.
Payment limits in 2026:
- Category A (routine repair): up to UAH 200,000;
- Category B (major repair): up to UAH 350,000 for flats and up to UAH 500,000 for private houses.
Amounts over UAH 200,000 are paid in two instalments: 70% in advance and 30% after the report on completed work.
How an order works:
- The owner applies through Diia, the state services app. A commission inspects the home and lists the required work.
- The money arrives on an eRecovery card.
- We survey the openings, price the WDS windows and sign a contract.
- We manufacture, install, and hand over the documents for the report.
For homes under the programme we usually suggest WDS 76 AD or 76 MD with a double-chamber low-E unit, which meets the DBN thermal requirements with room to spare. With the tempered-glass offer, the window becomes safer without raising the estimate. Procedure and documents (in Ukrainian): window and door restoration under eRecovery.
The business centre in our case study did not use the programme, which covers housing only. But commercial clients get the same complete set of documents: contract, completion certificates, delivery notes, tax invoices and waybills.
Delivery and installation of WDS windows

- Production in Odesa. Lead time depends on volume: in this case, 53 windows and the entrance were on site in five days.
- Delivery across Ukraine. Finished WDS windows and doors go to any region. Terms (in Ukrainian): delivery and installation.
- Installation by our own crews in Odesa and the Odesa region, Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv region, Kherson and the Kherson region. All window types: PVC windows.
- Documents for companies and sole proprietors (FOP): supply contract, specification appendices, completion certificates, invoices, waybills.
Checklist before ordering WDS windows
- Decide who will live behind the window. A living room needs at least 76 AD with a double-chamber unit. A stairwell, warehouse or office corridor can take 5S.
- Look at the street. A main road, a tram line, a high floor with wind: price 76 MD straight away.
- Measure the largest opening. Over 3 m² without a mullion means series 76, which has stronger reinforcement.
- Choose the colour before pricing. Through-coloured anthracite costs more than white, but on an entrance it pays off in looks and durability.
- Ask for the glass unit formula. An “i” in the formula (for example, 4/16/4i) means low-E glass. No “i” means a standard unit.
- Check whether the price includes installation, vapour barrier, sills and reveals.
- If you are a company or sole proprietor, agree the document package before installation, not after.

Frequently asked questions
Are WDS windows a good profile or a budget option?
WDS is a Ukrainian profile from Miroplast, ranging from budget to mid-range. Series 5S is the budget line. Series 76 AD and 76 MD have up-to-date specifications: 76 mm depth, glass units up to 48 mm, and Uw down to 0.79 W/(m²·K) according to the manufacturer. The final quality of a window depends on the glass unit, reinforcement and installation.
Which is better: WDS 76 AD or WDS 76 MD?
For a flat with ordinary openings, 76 AD with a 40 mm double-chamber unit is enough. For a private house, a busy street or windows over 3 m², 76 MD is better: it has six chambers and a third seal line that gives stronger protection against draughts and dust.
Is WDS 5S suitable for a flat?
It works if the budget is very tight, but only with a low-E glass unit. To meet the DBN V.2.6-31:2021 thermal requirements for climate zone 1, you need a profile at least 70 mm deep with a double-chamber low-E unit, so for living rooms we recommend 76 AD. Series 5S suits offices, stairwells, warehouses and summer houses better.
What does through-coloured anthracite mean?
It is a profile coloured dark during manufacture, with anthracite foil on both sides. If the surface is chipped, there is no white plastic underneath, and no white edge shows in the rebates or on the ends. We recommend it for entrances and windows that get knocked often.
Can I order WDS windows under the eRecovery programme?
Yes. VIKNODOM works with eRecovery (єВідновлення): we survey the openings, price the WDS windows to fit the compensation, install them and hand over the documents for the report. Under the current offer, WDS 76 AD and 76 MD windows come with tempered glass units at the price of standard ones.
Do you deliver WDS windows to other cities?
Yes, we deliver finished WDS windows and doors anywhere in Ukraine. Our own crews install in the Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.
Summary
WDS is not one system but a range for different jobs. For a large commercial order like the business centre on Velyka Arnautska, 5S with low-E glass is enough. For a flat, choose 76 AD; for a house or a noisy street, 76 MD. An entrance is best built on series 76 in through-coloured anthracite with 6 mm glass.
Book a free survey: we will price two options, for example 76 AD and 76 MD, so you can compare. Tempered glass units under the current offer come at no extra cost.
